What is Goaler?
Goaler is a football trivia game you play against your friends. Play a puzzle, get a score out of 1,000, then send the link: your friend gets the exact same puzzle, on the same clock, and has to beat your score. There is no sign-up and no app to install; a nickname is all a challenge needs.
Every puzzle is built from real careers: which clubs a player appeared for and which country capped him, from Wikidata and English Wikipedia. Each cell has several correct answers, every board can be completed with nine different players, and samples of every new set are checked by hand before it goes live.
You can send the same link to as many friends as you like. Each of them plays against your score, and your challenge page keeps the table of who beat whom. More about Goaler.
How to play
The board has three clubs or countries across the top and three down the side. For each of the nine cells, name a player who fits both: a club he played for, or the country he played for. Type any part of a name and pick him from the list.
Each player can be used once. Every right answer scores, rarer answers score more, and finishing fast adds a time bonus. The best possible score is 1,000. You can finish early at any time; empty cells simply score nothing.
Easy uses the biggest clubs and nations, Medium a wider pool, and Hard rare combinations. The full rules and tips.
